Legal Services

Some patients have involvement in the criminal justice system or have pending legal concerns. It is recommended that should a legal services team be involved with a client on Prescribed Alternatives, that they obtain consent to disclose and obtain information with the Prescribed Alternatives  Team. This is especially important when there is a possibility of a patient being admitted to a correctional institution in order to titrate medications.

It is recommended that legal service providers:

• Encourage a consent to obtain and disclose information to the  team.
• Communicate with the team about any pending legal concerns which may impact the patient’s status on the program.
• Communicate with the  team of any pending admissions to corrections in order to assist in medication titration and transferring care.
